Yum, we like nothing better here than chatting about food (and tea!) and in the Westcountry there are lots of lovely foodie treats to try out and events to go to. We’ve picked some of our fishy favourites that you might not have heard of before, so if you’re down our way then you’ve got a few ideas for what to do and where to go.

Dorset Seafood Festival
This free festival takes place on July 12 & 13 and includes, this year, gigantic fish finger butties, a ‘whelk revival’ and cooking demos from chefs.    

Take a trip to Topsham
Thought to be one of the most expensive places in Devon to buy a house, Topsham is great for seaside style, shopping, walks and good food. You can also get some of Britain’s tastiest fish and chips at The Fish Shed at Darts Farm. 

Cornish crab

Somewhere new to us is the St Moritz Hotel, which is not far from Wadebridge in Cornwall. Led by 27-year-old chef, Jamie Porter, who has experience at Rick Stein’s St Petroc’s Bistro and The Seafood Restaurant, the team dishes up delights such as crispy skinned hake served with a mojo picon sauce, globe artichoke and olive salsa. Another treat is the Camel Estuary crab salad.
