If you’re one of those people who cuts recipes from magazines, then now is the time to organise all those bits of paper into a sensible book, binder or box so you can easily find what you’re looking for when you need it.

If you go for the box option then you’ll need postcard-sized filing cards to write the recipes on and don’t forget to seek out old family recipes or tips from friends to include too.

If you ask friends and family to write down their own recipes in their own handwriting then you will be able to create a unique collection that can be handed down as a family heirloom.

A personalised recipe book full of family favourites with space to fit more in would also make a great gift to anyone off to university or leaving home to set up a home of their own.

Rather than make your own going away set for the autumn you could use these created by Somerset Illustrator Angie Spurgeon to write your winter warming recipes on.
